Lives change at New Beginnings of Central Florida. If you follow us on Facebook, you see glimpses of transformation in the posts. One willing resident in our homeless rehabilitation residential program, is filming a video diary. You can watch as Travis experiences and explains specific changes in his life as he works through the program.
Homelessness Demands Change
People come to New Beginnings from many different backgrounds and for many different reasons.
- Poverty can be passed down from generation to generation and learned from parents.
- Sometimes homelessness is the direct result of health emergencies.
- A person might face homelessness or poverty because of broken relationships, death or divorce.
Whatever the reason a person comes to our program, they come here expecting to change all of that. They learn that they cannot change the past, but they can change the present and work hard to redirect the future toward self-sufficiency and hope.
They come expecting a new beginning.
Travis Recorded Changes in Video Diary
When Travis entered our program in the summer of 2019, he asked if he could record a short video diary of his time with us. His first entry records the terrible skin damage on his arm and face from prolonged exposure to the sun. The next video shows how his arms healed, how he got glasses and was equipped with tools to face emotional pain.
Each entry is around one minute long, and Travis plans to continue adding to his story as he experiences more change. Take a minute to celebrate a life changed, and watch it happen right before your eyes.
Video Diary #1: Travis Didn’t Know Where to Go
Travis' World Had Spiraled Out of Control
Travis wanted to thank you for investing in him. He's been in the New Beginnings homeless rehabilitation program since July 24 (just under 2 weeks). "If I hadn't made it into the program, I am not sure what I would have done. I was literally at my wit's end."Watch an update from Travis a few months later: https://www.facebook.com/NewBeginningsCFL/videos/484140889087812/
