Greetings from New Beginnings of Central Florida. I am so excited to join the New Beginnings family as the Executive Vice President.
I started my professional career in retail but have spent more than 10 years in non-profit development from The Salvation Army, The American Heart Association and the March of Dimes.
It is very refreshing to work for a homeless ministry that believes in empowering the homeless and those that have fallen on hard times to lead responsible lives.
We have such a fantastic team of employees and volunteers that bring the spirit of Christ to work every day. No matter what challenges they may be facing in their own life, they bring joy, compassion and enthusiasm to work every day.
Flexibility at Work
I have many reasons to be proud of my team at New Beginnings but one that really stands out this month is everyone’s willingness to adapt to the ever changing needs of our community.
Recently we were able to help a family of six that was living in their car. They had to leave their apartment for a mold infestation and didn’t have the money in savings for a security deposit on a new rental.
It is a unique situation like this that is becoming all too familiar in our community. Up to 59% of today’s homeless now live in cars or vans, according to a report from Bloomberg.com. I am proud to be with an organization that truly believes in helping thy neighbor.
We are so grateful for the support of our community to maintain our services allowing us to continue to empower the homeless in our community. Thank you to all of our community partners, volunteers and donors.
