I came to New Beginnings in October 2013, a shell of the woman I had once been because of abuse from a man. I had isolated myself from everyone, so New Beginnings took me in when I was homeless and had nowhere else to turn.
They gave me an opportunity to volunteer that allowed me to have a sense of helping someone else. They gave me a Christian classroom to learn without distraction. I had somewhere safe to sleep, eat, and learn to stand confident again.
As I became stronger, New Beginnings saw in me what I had lost in the wilderness of my pain. They saw purpose and leadership. And so, they encouraged me to be courageous, even gave me the opportunity to learn a new trade in grant writing.
The most valued transformation was learning how much God loves me, forgives me and allows me to forgive others. Learning to trust Him is critical in anyone’s journey, and at the end of the day, it is all that matters.
I have since transitioned from Florida to Tennessee near both of my children. I work full-time at Whirlpool and recently started a business helping organizations fund their missions.
