A Hand Up, Not a Hand Out
New Beginnings provides a hand up, not just a hand out. New Beginnings offers transitional housing in Lake County for former homeless in Clermont including single men, moms with children, and families who want to recover from their homeless situation. There is also a job skills training program for these important men, women and children in need throughout Lake and West Orange Counties. The job success rate of our clients has improved to over 80% of the graduating class.
Volunteers are trained and matched with families by our Community Advocate and Case Manager to work with an “at risk” family in need of friend to give good guidance and advice on responsible living. For more info on becoming a Mentor email [email protected]
Job & Lifeskill Classes
Our Job & Lifeskill classes include a three-week curriculum of practical training. The first week reviews important life skills, the second week teaches job preparation and the third week teaches computer literacy. Clients are taught how to successfully interview, utilize life skills and learn computer skills like how to upload documents, create letters, and save to USB drives, to name a few.
