Around the time that graduates were throwing caps into the air last month, New Beginnings celebrated 2 of our own.
We gathered at the Community Foundation of South Lake County to celebrate Steve and Linda graduating from New Beginnings’ homeless rehabilitation program.
That morning marked a hard-earned milestone. Both Linda and Steve:
•completed all our classes—approximately 200 hours of life skills, job training and spiritual development.
• met with a case manager every week.
• met weekly with our licensed mental health counselor and talked through life challenges.
• set goals, covering everything from nutrition to facing fears.
• secured employment.
• met weekly with a mentor.
While we ate our breakfast catered by Chick-Fil-A, these 2 expressed deep gratitude for the community who supported them. They both also described a vibrant relationship with Jesus. In fact, Steve received our first honorary award for “Faith in Action.”
It was a joyous occasion, celebrating the courageous completion of their commitment. The room was full of love for both of them.
Whenever you send a monthly donation, or volunteer in our thrift store; when you help us stock one of our three mobile food pantries or attend one of our Saturday Helping Hands Outreaches; whenever you participate in our events, you help us write these stories of success.
On behalf of Linda, Steve, those who have already graduated and those currently working toward graduation, thank you.
