Scott is a new resident at New Beginnings.
In addition to case management, counseling and the classes required in our program, Scott is also going “back to school” thanks to a volunteer tutor to develop his reading, writing and spelling skills.
Twice a week he meets with Connie Giannuzzi, a retired teacher and volunteer. She volunteers her time with New Beginnings, having taught from 2nd grade to high school for 38 years.
Although Scott was enrolled in school as a child, he rarely attended because he had to work with his grandfather. For many years he has had a desire to learn more and continue his education.
“Things are going well,” said Connie. “He is very willing to do the work and trying hard. He is a pleasure to work with.”
Scott is grateful for this opportunity. “With God’s help,” he says, “and all the help of my brothers and sisters at New Beginnings, I will succeed!”
