Here are the top 5 reasons you volunteer with us:
-
Team Building
Churches, civic groups and local companies volunteer because they want to do something together. We can accommodate any size. LifeBridge Church sent 100 volunteers in one morning!
Contact our Volunteer Coordinator by emailing her directly at [email protected] to arrange a large group serve day. (Please include “large group volunteering” in the subject line.)
-
To Make a Difference in People’s Lives
Volunteers mentor our clients and teach life skill classes. Some work in retail at our 2 thrift stores and volunteers work alongside of them. You can touch a life!
-
To Support A Great Organization
Whether doing landscaping, sorting donations in our thrift stores, or helping with administrative work, your hours of service invest in the local fight against poverty and homelessness. Poverty and homelessness can feel overwhelming, but when we all work together, we accomplish much more.
Our mission is to empower people to overcome the pain of poverty and the alienation of homelessness. That mission includes you — whether you see the problem and want to help, or whether you are experiencing the problem and need the help. Either way, as a volunteer and donor or as a client, you are empowered to overcome poverty and homelessness by working together with others!
-
School Credit
Any student over 16 can volunteer and earn credits, either for a specific class or toward scholarship requirements. Lots of students like working with us as they seek to complete Bright Future’s hour minimum.
-
Community Service
The courts often appoint men and women to fulfill community service at New Beginnings as part of a consequence. Primarily, this work is completed in our thrift stores, and we make sure each volunteer meets our safety requirements.
Please contact our specialist to learn more about court-appointed volunteer work either by email at [email protected] or by calling and leaving a message at 352.988.9510.
